NAMIBIA SKELETON COAST - BEACH |
|
Skeleton Coast beach fishing is probably some of the best in the world, with a full range of predatory species just waiting to be caught. The most frequently discussed being the mighty Copper Shark, or locally known ‘Bronzie’, can attain weights in excess of 150kg, and is probably the hardest fighting fish from the shore. All sharks are caught on a 'tag and release' basis, and no sharks are used as chum. Other species that are sought after are Kob, Stenbras and Galjeon, all prime edible species which give a good account of themselves on balanced tackle. The productivity of Skeleton Coast beach fishing is equal to the dramatic environment, fishing where the Namib Desert meets the Atlantic Ocean. Best seasons are usually: October – November & January – May, though the rest of the year will produce fish, just not as much. Sharks are present year round, though more lethargic during winter months. We offer tours based in either Henties Bay, using local accommodation (to suit each party), or from Terrace Bay. Collections can be arranged from various airports for those flying into Namibia
